eircom today announced the appointment of Joel Wachtler as Director of Strategy and Business Development. Joel joins the Company Senior Management Team and will report to eircom Group CEO Paul Donovan.

Joel who hails from the US, started his career in 1975 as an Assistant Professor with the Hobart & William Smith Colleges Geneva, New York and later at Trenton State College, New Jersey.

Since 1983, he has built an extensive career including roles with US West, in Strategy, Marketing and Business Development; Media One in the UK where he was VP of Strategy and Business Development; Cable Partners in London focussing on cable T.V. development in Spain, Belgium and Germany; Telenet Belgium where he was VP of Business Markets, and most recently iPass California, where he was VP Strategy and Marketing.

Joel has a Ph.D. in Social Psychology and a Master of Science from Sloan School of Management MIT.
