Today, 8th March 2010, Go2mobile launches AccidentMMS, a service that is specifically designed for the insurance sector to allow their customers send them real-time photograph and video evidence directly.
AccidentMMS is a real-time service, allowing an insurance agent to view photographs and video online. For ease of use the insurance agent can
1. Rotate the images from landscape to portrait
2. Place the images side by side for comparisons
3. Increase/Decrease image size
4. Categorise the images by client claim number for ease of search and retrieval
5. Respond to the client via SMS if she has queries or wishes to confirm that the images have being delivered.
6. Forward the images to a colleague via email.
7. Watch video snippets within her Browser if the customer sent those in also.
Go2mobile sees AccidentMMS being used in many fields of insurance related accidents, in particular domestic, marine and motor vehicle. For example:
- Marine: Just take the Royal National Lifeboat Association (RNLI) latest statistics. The RNLI’s latest report (25th January 2010- http://www.rnli.org.uk/who_we_are/press_centre/news_releases/news_release_detail?articleid=521182) showed that there was a 13% increase in lifeboat callouts in 2009 compared with 2008. The lifeboats were launched 976 times, rescuing 1008 people. Of those, 104 vessels became stranded or grounded. These are incidents that cannot have an insurance person on the scene at that time or even the next day.
- Domestic/Commercial: Similar incidents with the flooding for example back in November 2009, and the Freezing conditions that followed the months after resulting in domestic and commercial burst pipes- which cost the insurance industry a total of €541 million according to the Irish Insurance Federation (IIF) (source: http://www.iif.ie/MediaPublications/PressRelease/tabid/119/ctl/ViewItem/mid/1833/ItemId/1158/language/en-GB/Default.aspx). This is where we believe a service such as AccidentMMS will play a vital role. No matter how fast the insurance assessor can make it to a damaged property she can never witness what has actually happened or has happened immediately while talking to the client.
- Motor Vehicle: Take for example, the Road Safety Authority’s (RSA) report for 2008. In that year An Garda Siochana recorded 28,464 motor collisions on Irish roads, out of this 21,728 involved damage to property or material damage only, while another 9, 758 resulted in people being non fatally injured (source: Road Collisions Facts 2008 http://www.rsa.ie/publication/publication/upload/RCF%202008%20Draft%203-2-2010.pdf). AccidentMMS will allow camera phones to become traffic accident witnesses (long after they are cleared away and road flow reopened), and allow insurance assessors to view what has occurred.
In summary, one can see from the statistics that there is a vital need for the insurance sector to allow their clients have such a facility. AccidentMMS is designed for when accidents happen as they happen, and when it is impossible for an insurance assessor to be on the scene at that point. It gives the insurance agency a visual reference of what their clients are talking to them about whilst on the phone, as they can visually relate to what their clients are seeing. And it gives the clients peace of mind, as they know before any changes occur that the insurance company is receiving an accurate view of just what has happened.
AccidentMMS provides insurance companies with 2 forms of communication available to their clients, enhancing their customer service and re-enforcing their brand:
- Send Photographs and Video to a Hosted Number: a hosted SIM that the insurance company supplies to its customers to send their photographs and video snippets from their camera phone.
- Send Photographs and Video to a Branded Email Address: a branded email address, which insurance agents provide to their clients, insurancename@go2mms.ie, which their customers can send photographs to via their camera phones.
Go2mobile sees this being used especially within:
- Domestic scenes, such as evidence of flooding within the house before the insurance assessor can arrive. Showing evidence in real-time.
- Car accidents- as it happens on the scene at the time.
- Boat accidents- such as running aground, damaged by rocks etc.- times when it is impossible for an insurance assessor to get a real-time first hand account.
