Ireland — 04 Mar. 2010 — 40 weren’t even on the plane!

Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today (4th Mar) confirmed that 50 people have contacted them claiming they ate the €10,000 scratch card onboard a Ryanair flight from Poland to the UK last week. In a bizarre attempt to get their hands on the €10,000 prize 40 of those claiming to have digested a fortune weren’t even on the plane!

Ryanair confirmed that the consumption of the winning ticket made it null and void as Brand Force, Ryanair’s scratch card partner, are unable to verify whether the ticket was indeed a €10,000 winner.

Ryanair and Brand Force will now donate the €10,000 to charity and over 25,000 Ryanair passengers have so far voted in a poll on www.ryanair.com, which closes at 5pm tomorrow (5th Mar), to select a charity to receive the €10,000 prize, from:

1. An Anger Management Charity
2. An Eating Disorder Charity
3. A Gamblers’ Charity
4. A Disruptive Children’s Charity
5. A Mental Health Charity

The results of this poll and the selection of a charity will take place next week.

Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara said,

“Ryanair loves a trier but not a chancer and 50 chancers so far have contacted Ryanair claiming to be the €10,000 scratch card gourmet, 40 of which were not even on the plane. Unfortunately, when the passenger ate his scratch card he chewed away his chance to pick up the €10,000 cash prize which will now go to charity. Ryanair passengers can vote on which charity deserves to benefit from this meal ticket on www.ryanair.com until 5pm tomorrow (Friday 5th Mar).”
