Co. Dublin, Ireland — 16 Dec. 2009 — - Greater risks due to falling PC prices and younger kids surfing the web

- Free Click.ie guide shows parents how minimise threat

Dublin; Wednesday 16th December, 2009: Parents have been alerted this Christmas to make sure to implement processes to protect their children on the Internet. The advice comes in a new free guide from Irish home media and IT retailer, Click.ie which opened its first Dublin outlet in Dundrum Town Centre recently.

“The fall in prices means that laptop and netbook PCs will be big sellers for Christmas. As a result we are likely to see the Internet being accessed by younger children than in the past,” commented Maurice Muldoon, CEO, Click.ie.

He said that the problem is that many parents are not as au fait with the Internet as their children. He added that the new guide: “Making the Internet a Safe Place for Your Child” is designed to explain what children are up to online and to help parents acquire the same level of comfort and familiarity with the Internet as their children have.

The new free guide is available from Click.ie’s Dundrum Town Centre store and branches in Navan, Athlone, Cavan, Carlow, Maynooth, Gorey, Ashbourne and Limerick.

The guide includes many practical hints and tips for both parents and children to help manage children’s online activities including how to safely use and enjoy social media sites like Bebo or Facebook.
