Campbell’s Perfect Tea has a rich Irish heritage stretching back to its
establishment in 1797. The iconic yellow tin will jingle the memory bells
of many Irish Tea drinkers. It is still made in Dublin by Robert Roberts.
For many years it has been hard to find in the face of stiff competition
from the bigger brands. However, it has retained a following of cult
devotees – including such foodies as Trish Deseine, the Paris based Irish
Cookery Guru. Fortunately, recently it has got a new lease of life. Its
strong flavoursome blend* has been recognised through the award of two
gold stars in the Great Taste Awards 2009. Roisin O Shea, Business
Unit Manager for Robert Roberts comments - “People are educating
themselves a lot more about tea and despite the credit crunch are still
willing to seek out quality. We have had some lovely stories from people
who literally go to the ends of the Earth to get Campbell’s tea.”
Campbell’s now sells as far afield as Texas and Germany. The good
news is that it is available more readily closer to home as Dunnes stores
are now stocking it in their bigger stores. Campbell’s Tea is priced from
€5.99 for a large 500g tin and is available in the bigger Dunnes Stores &
quality independents. For a full list of stockists look on
