Participants offered a chance to pitch to Silicon Valley

Irish technology start-up IGOpeople will travel to Spain this week (May 4th to 6th) to represent Ireland in the 2009 Innovate! Europe competition in Spain.

IGOpeople, the network for the real world, was selected from a panel start-ups across Europe to attend the Innovation Master Class in Zaragoza, Spain this week. They will be joined by tech start-up companies from all over the continent.

From the Master Class, the most innovative European companies will be chosen to take part in a trade mission to Silicon Valley where they will have the opportunity to showcase their products/services to the world’s top tech companies.

Innovate! Europe 2009 is a three-part competition run by Guidewire Group, a Silicon Valley -based advisory group for early stage companies and emerging markets. Its aim is to find Europe’s highest potential start-up companies and support them in their entrance to the global market.

The Innovate! Europe Master Class in Zaragoza will allow the selected finalists perfect their company pitch and tailor it to a Silicon Valley standard. During the intensive 2-day program, company executives will be coached in the governance, marketing, fund-raising, partnering and business development skills critical to thriving in Silicon Valley and the global technology market.

The Master Class is taught by serial entrepreneurs, financiers and experts from Europe and the United States and will highlight proven strategies and best practices that are integral to becoming a successful global entrepreneur.

Speaking ahead of his departure to sunny Spain, IGOpeople CEO, Campbell Scott said ““we are delighted to have been selected to take part in this event. This Master Class in Spain is a fantastic opportunity for us to learn how best to pitch to Silicon Valley and the global market. As an online network, www.IGOpeople.com has great potential, to provide businesses across the world with a new way of connecting with their customers. It’s nice to see us already being mentioned alongside Facebook and Twitter! The 2-day visit to Zaragoza also gives us the opportunity to learn from experienced entrepreneurs, investors and our peers in other European countries. For the next 2 days we’ll be leaving the negativity of recession behind and focusing on what ‘can’ be done.”
