Dublin landscape design and build company Owen Chubb Garden Landscapes Limited scooped two top awards for a new garden.

Company Director Owen Chubb went along with delighted clients to the Culloden Hotel, Hollywood, Belfast to collect the accolades at the ALCI (Association of Landscape Contractors of Ireland) Landscape Awards 2006.

The company based in Rathfarnham, Dublin, won two ALCI awards for Best Garden Design and Best Garden Construction (under €13k Category) for a garden in Templeogue, Dublin. In 2005 the company also won ALCI Awards for Best Garden Design and Best Garden Construction (over €13k Category) for a private garden in Malahide.

Mr Chubb said: “I am delighted to win the ALCI awards and it was particularly satisfying to work on this project. This is the second consecutive year we have won ALCI awards for Garden Design and Garden Construction and I am very proud of our landscaping team”.

The prizes were presented to the company at annual ALCI Awards ceremony on Friday, October 20th.

On the winning garden, the judges commented: “Excellent attention to detail of hardscape materials. Confident planting at an appropriate scale creates an elegant and assured scheme.”

And for winning in 2005, the judges commented: “This is a very well designed and executed garden scheme and well deserves to be the winner in this category. The design worked very well within the context of the site taking into account the significant change of level. Great attention was paid to the detailing of hard landscape works and a thoughtful selection of plants resulted in a superb composition.”

The ALCI annual awards now in its 24th year, is designed to showcase the high levels of professionalism attained by ALCI members each year. There are several categories covering private gardens, residential developments, commercial, public authority, interior landscape and sportsgrounds.
